It was another early Wednesday morning sitting in the lecture hall of my University of Economics, surrounded by “like-minded” individuals (with whom I had NOTHING in common) and listening to a professor who had no clue about modern world marketing but who still tried to convince me that what’s written in the books is the only way to go, and that I must learn it or live out my destiny as a total failure.
My colleagues, whose main dream was to finish their studies with good grades, get a safe job, a nice house and work their asses off until the age of 65 so they can retire and start living happily with their families, were just the tip of the iceberg.
How could I possible explain to someone that my goal is to become a lifestyle millionaire, who wants to be able to enjoy life to the fullest, who is increadibly wealthy and can do or buy anything he wants, who doesn’t trade his time for money but spends less than 1hr per day working, and who doesn’t need to take vacation but can travel the world all year long?
"What nonsense!" was the typical response that I was receiving followed by a friendly and highly inspirational tip - “Study hard, get good exam results, and get a good job”.
From the very beginning it was clear to me that university isn't for me, and my vision for the world is completely different but somehow I ended up going there. It felt like the right move after high-school and that’s what ambitios and highly motivated people should do after all, right?
At this point in my life I was 23, and I was already making more money per month than my lecturers were probably making per whole semester. It was obvious to me that I would never use that piece of paper that I would receive at the end of my studies, or in the case that I did need to use it I wouldn’t be happy and wouldn’t be living according to my standards.
So I stood up, walked out the door with a huge smile on my face and never came back.
Now, if you are like my colleagues, and you are genuinely happy with the way you live and think, then congratulations, you do not need to read any further. However, if you can relate to what I’m saying, and you feel like you want more out of life, keep reading...
I’ve been always interested in becoming this highly successful person who doesn’t have a boss, who can buy all of the material things he wants, who can experience the lifestyle of his dreams, and travel the world while surfing in some of the best spots and relaxing on the most beautiful beaches.
The problem with this dream is that in order to achieve it you actually need plenty of free time, and free time is not often associated with highly successful people...
So I had to get creative and start a business that can bring my dreams to life.
The Internet is all around us, I said to myself. If I could only find a way to utilize it I could travel and work from anywhere in the world...
So here I was at the age of 18 starting my research on how to use the internet to become a millionaire.
I remember all those sleepless nights of lurking message boards and browsing sites on how to make money online and get rich using affiliate marketing. Looking back, I can honestly say that pretty much 99% of everything I’ve read was complete horse shit and a waste of time. The few people who do make money never tell you their secrets... and everybody else is either trying to sell you something or they don’t make any money at all.
So I started gaining information about what to do and how to find the right niche. By this time, I only had around $300 to invest (thank you parents and friends for giving me money for my 18th birthday), and I had to choose the niche very carefully.
Since I also do music, I decided to go for a “Piano self-teacher” and I was sure it was the perfect fit.
With the help of Youtube and a few online marketing forums, I created a super basic Wordpress website, and with a huge excitement I started my first online campaign on Google Adwords. I put some proper hard rock music on my speakers and screamed with an open throat “YEAAAAH BABY, WERE GONNA KILL IT!”
After 3 days, and with 30% of my money now spent, guess how many “Piano self-teachers” I have sold? Exactly... NONE. ZERO.
So, I paused everything and deleted my website out of anger. Maybe this isn’t for me, I said... Who am I kidding? I have no online marketing experience, I have no technical skills and I don’t have a huge amount of money to compete with everyone out there.
The next couple of days I stepped away from the computer and gave myself some time to relax and think things over. I was crushed because I’d spent months researching and educating myself to make sure I made a killer start, and yet I didn’t make a dime.
After a week I went back to the drawing board with a fresh mind and motivation to make my second attempt a winner. Guess what happened? A total failure once again...
I won’t go on and tell you about every product and niche that I failed in. I will only say that I’ve struggled a lot, and I mean A LOT, but I refused to throw in the towel and quit. I knew that people are making millions from this business and I was sure that I can make it too!
Eventually, after hundreds of disastrous campaigns in affiliate marketing, I stumbled across an industry which I later became really good in: Online Lead Generation!
The main difference in what I’m doing is that you don’t have to actually sell any physical or digital products yourself. You just collect the data that your buyer wants to acquire, and you don’t even have to worry if they make any sales or not.
Steering clear of pay-per-sale, and only concentrating on “potential customer acquisition” was the smartest move I’ve ever made, as the Internet is the PERFECT place to do it.
I’ve specialized in the financial markets and started collecting leads.
I was reinvesting all of my profits, expanding my campaigns, starting new products and gaining experience like a monster!
I couldn’t believe the money I was making! I must say that being successful at this young an age, and having accomplished all this by yourself, is the BEST FEELING EVER!
Nowadays, assuming you can find me, which is hard to do, I could be windsurfing on a Caribbean island, lifting weights in an old school gym in Europe, skydiving in Dubai or skiing in the Alps. Best of all, I am a full time online entrepreneur and I work about an hour or two per day.
I feel younger, more alive and more fulfilled than ever. I truly believe that anything in life is possible. I am grateful to have met wonderful people in my life that support me on my way, and I cannot wait to reach my new goals.
I hope my short version story serves as a little inspiration to some of you who may still be struggling like I used to, or need a push to transition out of their careers and start living life on their own terms.
If you feel like you hit that brick wall and are struggling, like I myself was a few years back, send me an email and I may be able to help you out. I know what it feels like to wander in the dark, not knowing where to go and what to do, so I will be happy to support you.
If you made it this far and found my page, chances are that all you need is a small push into the right direction that can completely change your life.
If you want to become self-employed and build a successful online business, just drop me a quick email and I’ll show you what to do.
